Do you want to know how to lose baby weight after you’ve had a c-section?
Stick around and I’ll show you how I lost weight after a c- section, in less than a year without going hungry.
I did it, and you can too…
How To Lose Baby Weight: Recovering from a C-section

The honest truth is recovering from a c-section takes time.
The recovery period for me after a c- section was nothing i had ever experienced and i was totally unprepared for it.
I felt like I was in a stranger’s body and it was a very unpleasant period for me.
I had planned that as soon as I had my little one, I would get the pregnancy weight off immediately.
But this was such a challenge because, with a c -section, there were numerous restrictions on what you can actually do.
I had to worry about recovering from childbirth and recovering from the c-section, which technically meant having to recover from major surgery.
I must say this though,
Patience is vital because the last thing you want is having a problem with the c- section cut and stitches.
As soon as I got cleared from my doctor, I decided it was time to drop the extra weight.
Unfortunately, somehow with breastfeeding and not exactly being active as I was trying to settle into my routine as a new mother, I gained some more weight… UGHH!!
So how did I lose weight in less than a year ??

#1. Rest whenever possible

As a new mom, this can sometimes be a challenge, especially if you have no help or family around you, just like me.
So what I did was try to sleep as much as I could when my baby was asleep and when my husband could help out with watching our little one.
Without a doubt, getting as much rest as I could get played a vital role in my weight loss.
How?
In the initial stages of getting serious about losing weight, I realized that I was eating right and exercising, but I wasn’t losing weight as fast as I wanted.
But as soon as i got my sleep schedule sorted and better, i started dropping pounds more easily as the weeks went by.
It was as simple as that.
#2. Healthy and Wholesome Diet
The bottom line is this…
You cannot lose weight without eating right.
No matter what i say in this post, a bad diet will lead to weight gain.
But stay with me.
Here’s how ridiculously easy it can be.
The key to eating healthy is to make meals in advance, fill the pantry with healthier options and limit the foods you enjoy that are not necessarily healthy.

MEAL PLANNING is a lifesaver, trust me!
I say this because being stressed or overwhelmed with being a new mom, makes it so easy to fall into the habit of filling up with junk food or anything readily available.
What did i do?
Meal planning!!! plus I I incorporated many whole foods, fruits, vegetables, and I also stayed hydrated.
THIS $5dollar meal plan was what i used and still use till date and i highly recommend it.

You can also stock up your refrigerator with freezer-ready foods.
You cannot overlook the importance of eating well and healthy, especially as a new mom, because the body needs to be well-nourished during breastfeeding.
I still ate the treats I enjoyed in moderation, I definitely had my bowl of ice cream every now and then.
That way i didn’t feel like i was missing out and at the same time, i didn’t feel guilty for not eating right…
This was sustainable for me because it wasn’t a restrictive diet plan. I just made a conscious effort to make healthier food choices.
#3. Be kind to Yourself

In addition to being overwhelmed with having a newborn, I wasn’t about to add feeling blue about not recognizing my body to the list.
So, I looked for ways to love and pamper myself at any opportunity i got.

- A nice long bath when my little one slept,
- I gave myself a break on days when I couldn’t meet up with my to-do’s,
- I listened to my favorite podcast when breastfeeding and
- I remembered to be kind to myself.
I also journaled. Journaling was a very effective way that I was able to handle the postpartum blues while focusing on losing weight and feeling better about myself.
?THIS is the journal i use and highly recommend.
It’s important to look for ways to make you smile and be happy mama, ? give yourself a break now and then if you have to.
Remember, losing weight and being healthy is more like a marathon and not a sprint…
Embrace it as a lifestyle.
#4. Walk, Walk, Walk

Admittedly, i incorporating some form of exercise will help you lose the baby weight.
Even when my doctor gave me the all-clear, I opted to take it easy on the exercise.
To be honest, I still felt a bit scared that my organs had not yet returned to their proper positions. .. (hahaha), or that my c section stitch will rip open while I was exercising.
Thinking about it now, I probably was just paranoid but i made a decision to go for long walks every day instead.
Not only was this great for my weight loss plans, it helped a lot with my mood.
Walking also made me feel a lot better.
Especially on days, I felt overwhelmed all I did was go for long walks with my little one in his stroller.
I tracked my steps with a fit-bit, and on most days, I walked over 10,000 steps without even realizing it, burning far more calories than I would have burned if I went to the gym.
I challenged myself to walk longer distances and walking routes that incorporated an uphill climb to increase intensity.

#5. Stay positive and motivated
I had those days, the ones where my little one was teething , ill from a cold , an ear infection or just straight up cranky.

On days like that, I just wanted to eat and do nothing.
But I motivated myself to go for a walk even if I didn’t feel like it, and the truth is, i was always glad that i did.
So simply aim to be consistent as much as you can.
Notwithstanding, there will be days when you absolutely cannot make it for a walk; I had those days.
Dont beat yourself up. It is ok to take a day or two off and resume as soon as you can.
The most important point here is you need to listen to your body.
