‘’Every day is a fresh new opportunity to achieve your dreams’’
Do you have a positive morning routine? What is your current morning routine? Morning rituals are an essential part of each day because of how we start each day sets the tone for the rest of the day.
Taking out time each morning to establish a productive morning routine, sets you on the right part to a productive and stress-free day.
What you spend the first few hours of your morning doing, can have a significant impact on your day.
It’s a common habit to reach for our phones first thing in the morning.
We spend hours in bed scrolling through our social media feed and digesting information, both good or bad.
Most of the information we expose ourselves to first thing in the morning induces stress before we have gotten the opportunity to set goals for our day.
Doing this will affect our minds and thoughts, leading to stress and poor mental health.
Here is an additional excellent resource to improve your productivity.
You should, however, choose a positive morning ritual that influences your day and prepares you for a positive day.
You may not be a morning person or be able to wake up at 5 am every day; everyone is different.
However, irrespective of when you wake up, you should plan to have a few minutes of your morning to set the tone for the rest of the day.
I am usually not a morning person, and I most definitely prefer not to wake up at 5 am.
However, I ensure that I spend the first few minutes of my morning dedicating myself to a positive routine that establishes the mood for my day.
Find a few simple morning routine rituals below that you could incorporate to create a revitalizing start to your day
.
1. Meditation
Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness or focusing the mind on a particular thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state. (source; Wikipedia)
Taking a few minutes of your morning to meditate allows you to channel your mind and thoughts.
You chose to channel peace and positivity for your day.
Meditation enhances calmness and concentration, allowing you to focus on the things that matter, will enable you to take charge of your thoughts.
Meditation helps you relieve stress, it to streamline your thoughts before facing any chaos that comes with the day.
It reduces stress, controls anxiety, and promotes emotional health.
2.Create a To-do list
Creating a to-do list is an essential part of my morning routine because having a plan for the day keeps me organized and mentally focused.
Creating a to-do list keeps me in charge of my day, it keeps me grounded, and I get the feeling of accomplishment when I complete the items on my list.
Making a to-do list will keep you accountable, and aid the release of the stress of having too many thoughts of what you need to do in your head, which can easily cause anxiety.
Having to go over what you need to do in your head can make simple tasks seem overwhelming, therefore leading to stress.
Having a to-do list gives you a clearer picture of your day, accomplishing the goals on your record makes you feel productive and having a clear idea of the unfinished items, would help you plan for the next day.
A to-do list keeps you mentally focused.
This takes away the stress and anxiety that comes with uncertainty, and it maps out a clear part for your day.
3.Positive affirmations
Making positive affirmations and filling your mind with positive thoughts can shift your mindset and make your day stress free.
Affirmations direct your energy towards achieving your goals for the day.
It is a powerful tool I’ve incorporated into my mornings.
Here are some examples ;
-I choose to be productive today
-I am grateful for a new day to achieve my dreams
-I will live fully in the present moment
-I am strong, and I am healthy, I am full of energy
-Good things are coming to me.
-Grateful for everything I have in life
-I am keen to create a life that I love
You can also tailor your affirmations to any area of your life, your goals, family, health, finance, career, etc.
I also love to listen to a podcast or an audiobook. A good podcast or audiobook can fill your mind with positive thoughts.
4.CLEAN
Taking charge of your immediate environment and decluttering your surroundings, declutters the mind.
Consciously organizing your surroundings not only increases productivity and assertiveness, but it also introduces discipline.
This reflects on the rest of your day.
We never have the time in the morning for a major cleaning.
However, little actions like laying your bed, putting things in their rightful places, and just having an overall clean environment sets the path for a stress-free and productive day.
5. GRATITUDE JOURNAL
It is important to practice gratitude continually.
Consciously appreciating and giving thanks for what you have, gives you reasons to be happy.
Gratitude helps you channel your thoughts towards the things you have achieved and the things you have been blessed with.
Not only does this increased self-esteem, but it also gives you hope and increases optimism.
I usually take out time every morning to write out at least five things I am grateful for, and the list is countless.
We generally always focus on the things we don’t have.
Stressing about the things we don’t want, the areas we feel we have failed, and the goals we are yet to achieve, Therefore neglecting the importance and the need for gratitude.
How often do we take the time to appreciate what we have achieved, the gift of life, family & friends?
As much as we are working towards our goals, we need to understand that life is amazing.
There is so much to be thankful for and even the challenges we face now and then makes us better.
Start a gratitude journal, take out time every day to list at least five things you are grateful for, and you will be amazed at the positive impact this will have on your day.
