time management tips

1. Prioritize tasks

As much as we may want to do everything all at once, the simple truth is we just cannot.

This is why it is so important to prioritize.

I strive to multi-task efficiently, but I’ve had days where I tried to juggle too many things all at once, and of course, that didn’t end well.

Here’s all you have to do.

Begin by making a list of all the things you want to do, then separate the urgent tasks from the less urgent tasks and tackle those first.

This will help you balance your schedule and obligations at home or at work, very effortlessly.

Admittedly, priorities change from time to time, but it is crucial to determine what matters most now or what gets you closer to your overall goal so you can focus on that.

And another thing; When you start the day off by completing your most important task, what happens is it gives you a real sense of accomplishment.

2. Organize your work around your energy levels.

Ever wondered why your productivity is better at certain times more than the other ?

The fact of the matter is, your productivity levels are directly related to your energy levels.

So what you need to do is figure out when your energy levels are at their highest and schedule your most challenging tasks for those times.

It could be in the mornings when you’ve just gotten out of bed, or perhaps after you’ve just had breakfast or a cup of coffee.

After that, you could also Identify the low-value tasks and schedule them for when your energy levels are lower.

4. Sometimes choose completion over perfection

Dont get me wrong, trying to get everything done perfectly is superb. But it is easy to get caught up in doing everything perfectly that we end up getting nothing done.

On some days, it is better to get the task done . Perfectionism can easily slow you down.

5. It is ok to outsource.

As much as I want to be a super mom and do everything by myself, the way I like it done, I’ve realized that sometimes it is better when i outsource tasks.

I’ll be honest, I’ve always hated outsourcing because it felt like I still had to spend so much time fixing what the other person did, and it doesn’t really save me time, so what’s the point, right?.

The truth is, we all have a certain way we want things to be done, but sometimes, when outsourcing, we need to understand that the person we are outsourcing to may never do the task exactly the way we want it done.

But, this doesn’t necessarily mean that they did it poorly.

In addition to that, sometimes, if we give the right instructions, then we will get our tasks done just the way we want.

Because honestly, you will have too much on your plate at some point, a lot more than you can physically manage.

Outsourcing is a vital time management skill that gets disregarded, but it is undoubtedly a sure-fire way to get a lot done in less time.

Seriously, It is ok to ask for help from time to time, so you have more time on your hands to focus your attention on other things.

6. Automate repetitive tasks.

Isn’t it odd that we spend so much time doing repetitive chores and so little time looking for ways to simplify or automate these chores?

If you can automate many of your day-to-day responsibilities, it will undoubtedly free up more time for you.

Streamlining what you need to do at work, business, or at home will change your life for real.

Thankfully, technology has made automation super easy. For example, as a mompreneur, you could take advantage of tools to

  • Schedule your social media postings,
  • Create canned email responses, and
  • Automatically fill in online forms at the touch of a button.

Another example is choosing to meal plan, cook in bulk, or make ahead freezer meals instead of cooking every day.

Think of the everyday activities that you do that you can easily automate or simplify.

Guess what? There maybe be better and simpler options for your errands or better ways to tackle activities that make the most of your day.

Automating these tasks could save you hours a week, helping you manage your time better.

7.Cut out distractions.

You knew this was coming, right? Yes! Its time to put down your phone.😁

This is a vital time management tip because technology is a great thief of time, as incredible as it is.

It is time to stop.

For instance, I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve spent over thirty minutes scrolling mindlessly on social media.

Now that’s a problem, and I believe there are many other productive ways I can spend my time.

If your phone is a major distraction, here are a few things you could do;

  • Consider turning off the notifications on your phone.
  • Use apps like off time, moment, break free, flipd or app detox to help you unplug.

This may seem counter-intuitive, but the point is, since we use our smartphones for everything, these apps might be beneficial to deal with distractions.
